Books That You Can Read To Eduate Yourself On Black History

Writer's picture: Zoe J FelixZoe J Felix

Hey Y’all ! I hope everyone has been safe among everything that has been going on in this country. We are living in history right now and it is nice to see people stepping up to the plate and letting their voices be heard. It is so important that we continue to not only speak out, but educate ourselves on black history. I put together a list of some books that I have read and decided to share them with you all. You don’t have to buy these books all at once, but definitely look into them because they reveal a lot information that people should be aware of, but a lot of people aren’t. If you are a person of color reading this, way back then we didn’t even have the privilege to get an education and read because of how much knowledge you gain from reading a book. To be a leader you have to be a reader so don’t undermine that. The books that I listed give great insight on the topic of race.

1.) White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism

2.) The New Jim Crow

3.) So You Want To Talk About Race

4.) How to Be Anti Racist

5.) Message to The Black Man

6.) Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?: And Other Conversations About Race

7.) White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide

8.) The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America

That is all for now y’all ! Continue to be the change you want to see in the world 🌎. If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything. Let’s continue to do our part, signing petitions, donating, and educating ourselves .
